Mayawati, The Next Prime Minister

Kumari Mayawati, the fourth time Chief Minister of UP, the most populous State in India, is already well ahead of any other leader in popularity rating.  She is making ‘Uttar Preadesh” (the Northern Province) an ‘Uttama Pradesh (ideal province) and moving on to her dream of making India the ideal nation of casteless development and consistent progress.  The Forbes Magazine has included this iron-willed lady in the list of the most influential personalities in the world.

She was born in 1956, as the daughter of an ordinary civil servant Prabhu Das and his wife Ram Rathi. She earned several degrees, including degrees in education and law, and worked as a teacher in Delhi.  At the age of 21 she met Kanshi Ram, the charismatic leader of the downtrodden, who was already a labour leader then.  Kanshi Ram’s pro-Dalit stance attracted her and her fearless eloquence, in defense of the oppressed in front of the elite members of the Cosmopolitan Club of Delhi, made Kanshi Ram request her to enter politics.   She accepted the invitation and never had to turn back.

Working for years, as the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founded by Kanshi Ram in 1984 and as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the youngest and first Dalit woman Chief Minister in India, Mayawati has grown in stature together with her party to become the leading force in Indian politics and social reformation.  At the comparatively young age of 53, Mayawati is now the most eligible candidate for the highest executive post in the country, that of the Prime Minister of the largest democracy in the world.

Her efficiency in Managing State funds has resulted in more funds for development initiatives, like the fund for urban development to the tune of Rs. 13,000 crores. Mahamaya Garib Asirvad Yojana, through which each poor girl child will own a deposit of Rs.20, 000 which will grow to Rs.1,00,000 at the age of 18 and Savithri Bhai Phule Balika Siksha Madad through which each poor girl will get a fund of Rs. 25,000 for her secondary education are just two examples of her concern for the women below the poverty line.  These two projects alone cost the state exchequer Rs. 2000 crores in which the Centre has no contribution whatsoever.

Bahen Mayawatiji has all the qualities people look for in a future Prime Minister of India.  She has a clear vision historically, politically, socially and economically.  She is keen to correct her mistakes and any flaw in execution for the sake of perfection in every aspect.   Her highest concern is the unity and integrity of the country and the universal progress of all communities and castes, without prejudice to any segment. She has already successfully used and is determined to continue using political power for social progress.  That is why she has accepted as her party policy the policy of ‘Sarvajana Hitaya – Sarvajana Sukhaya’ to please all people and to serve all people.
